Anyone spotted C/2002 V1 (NEAT) yet? The details on the BAA comet section site at http://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/~jds say it should be visible in the early evening, around RA 23h and dec 7degs, and could be naked-eye-visible. Might be a bit low in the west though.
I must admit i'd not heard of it. Will certainly have a go now you've told me though !
It was the one I alluded to in the update that happened a little sooner than intended while I was away...
Of course, having mentioned the possibility of a comet being visible, I seem to have jinxed the weather into throwing down a carpet of white stuff...
Brrr....

There are some spectacular images of this comet taken by SOHO. Check http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime-images.html
At one point http://solar.spacew.com/c3/ was also showing up-to-the-minute images, but it appears to have gone AWOL in the lsat 24 hours....

The comet is now almost out of SOHO's field of view.
The Sky at Night (repeated at 12:45 this afternoon on BBC2) included an animation of the comet's appearance in SOHO's field of view.
