Title: The Bubble Nebula and its many friends
Post by: JohnH on Oct 30, 2024, 18:34:45
I cannot get the image to show! so here is a link.

https://www.astrobin.com/qtg1rl/ (https://www.astrobin.com/qtg1rl/)

This LHaRGB is a total of 4hrs 47mins imaging over two nights and I really felt the benefit of my observatory - no need to set up, take down etc.

Sharpstar 15028 HNT telescope on iOptron CEM25P
Camera ZWO ASI1600MM Pro at -10C
Control ZWO ASIAir Mini.

The area around the Bubble Nebula (C 11) is full of objects:
To the right is M 52 (open cluster)
To the left SH2-157
Just below C11 and SH2_157 is SH2-159
Below SH2-159 is NGC 7538

The "Bubble" is dead centre of the image and is visible if you zoom in (couldn't get it quite as contrasty as I would have liked!).

I still think that the Bubble, together with its neighbours, is the most beautiful DSO.

Possibly the longest imaging time I have managed.

Finally, I have managed to upload the image!!! This is a .jpg, the link above is to a .png which is better quality.

John this is the attachment from Astrobin, not sure why it didn't work for you:

That is a lot lot better than your first process of this target (and friends).
How did you combine the Ha?

Glad you are happy with having your observatory - at Last!!!!

Hi Carole,

Thanks. My browser just doesn't seem to want me to upload .png files, maybe it is the size. To me the .png has richer colours.

I adopted Roberto's suggestion from my previous image (Cocoon Nebula).

It was all in Pixinsight. I downloaded a script which allowed me to subtract RGB from the Ha, this gave me a starless Ha image which I added to a starless RGB colour image which I then added to my RGB star (ie no nebulas) background. This means that the star colours are not distorted by Ha data.

Everyone should have an observatory  :D  The design of mine - retracting/slide off roof - seems unusual but it works. If anyone wants a look just get in touch with me and I will be happy to show them.

I have cropped the image to the area of the Bubble - very enlarged so exaggerated star size. I just wanted to prove that the Bubble is actually there.
