Title: Bright fireball over Somerset
Post by: Rick on May 12, 2022, 09:56:35
The UK Meteor Network has received over 200 reports of a bright fireball over the South West. It was captured on some Global Meteor Network cameras from Yorkshire to Kent. On some it was so bright it completely saturated the frame.

My GMN camera looks the other way, so all it captured was a brief brightening of the sky...

Apparently analysis by FRIPON has it coming down to about 36kms.

Analysis of this latest event is on-going, and there's a chance fragments may have reached the ground (or, more likely, water).

There've been nine well-recorded fireballs over the UK so far this year. See https://ukmeteornetwork.co.uk/fireballs/
