I did not want to do ha of Rosette again, and had intended to do OIII. trouble was, I cannot bring it into focus using the QSI/Leitz.

I could have gone elsewhere, but as the sky was so good & there were so many stars, i was not sure i was on my alignment star as they are so small using the lens as usual, & had to hunt for the Rosette. i did not want to spend any more time looking for a subject when alignment could be wrong.

Rocket Pooch

It needs O3 and S2, then its a proper image :-) good though....

Fay

I will have to do OIII with another method & combine

Fay

thanks John, not as intended, but will blaze on!

The Thing

That is very nice Fay. You must get your filters sorted for this combination as based on this the results will be superb.

RobertM

I know what you mean Fay but you have to agree that it's come out very well !  What are you young to do about the Sulphur and Oxygen - it would be nice to be able to add those.

Robert

Fay

well i will setup the QSI with the ZS66, for OIII, possibly Sulphur

That is stunning Fay!
So much contrast and faint wispy stuff.
You must be well pleased.

Mark

Fay

Yes, thanks Mark, will have to sort colour out, hopefully

RobertM

Fay, are your NB filters not parfocal or nearly so ?

Fay

Well the ha is Baader & the rest Astronomik.  All will be ok with other setups & another lens, but with the Leitz, even with ha, inifinity is the focus point, no room to spare, scrapes through by the skin of its teeth.

RobertM

The bandwidth difference of the filters might cause a problem if you did a NB palette.  The Baader is 7nm, are the Astronomiks 12nm ?  If that's the case then the wider bandwidth will cause larger stars.

Fay

Yes I have a full set of 12nm Astronomik.  so the Astronomik OIII is 12nm? probably

Nice image, Fay. Lovely wide field too.
