Unfortunately Ron and I will not be able to come to the Christmas meeting as hoped.  May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and express our thanks for the warm welcome extended to us.

Carole

Shame you will miss it, the quiz is always fun, and the nosh is always good.

Merry Christmas to you both.

Carole

RobertM

Yes, you're right Carole and sadly I'm having to miss it too :(

Another great Christmas meeting with the usual 1st class quiz from Tony - even I got a couple of correct answers  :D

Thanks again Tony

Yes great evening, always lots of laughs at funny anwers or comments.

Excellent quiz, but I wonder whether we could have a slightly shorter quiz in future as it left very little time for eating, drinking and socialising.  Maybe aiming to finish at 9.30 would be better.  Not to detract from the excellent content though.

It wasn't the quiz that took the time, it was the arguing and chat between questions.

I thought the timing was OK

I think it would save a lot of time if the quizmaster also marks the question sheets. That way there is no arguing. Pre-printed question and answer sheets would solve that problem.

I've volunteered to run the quiz next year so if I do it i'll run it that way.

Apart from that it was a very enjoyable evening. The chat and beers in the pub afterwards with Kylee's hilarious stories was also good.

Mike

But for whatever reason, we didn't start eating until almost 10pm.

Carole

Mac

how about getting a plate of grub before the quiz and eating during the questions.

Mac.

Rocket Pooch

I agree Mac, in fact it would have made no difference to our score if we were nibbling away!

And I'm sorry but that spot the odd one out round was fixed, we scored at least 34 points on that!

That sounds like a good compromise, in fact I remember thinking that myself last night, that we could be eating and drinking while we were quizzing.

I believe the whole quiz was a fix, as I saw many people passing sealed envelopes over to the Quiz master prior to the contest starting, and did anyone see the new tie Tony was wearing.............please don't tell me that wasn't a anonymous gift, or just a coincidence, as I won't believe it.
The questions next year should be delivered 10 minutes before the quiz by G4S armed guards, and that should put a stop to all this nobbling. ;)

Tony G

PS........Our team the FLOCKERS didn't come last, we just came first from the other end. :D

Merry Christmas, and thanks for a great night.

A very enjoyable evening indeed. I wasn't much help in the quiz...thank god for the experts. However...plenty more stories are available for the pub!!!

Merry Christmas to you all and a very Happy New Year.

See you soon

Agreed.  A few glasses of French Pastis would have helped our team's lucidity ...

Fay

I cant believe i thought it was next week!!!!!!!!!! It is on the calendar as 22nd

YES!

See you there, but get there early as they are expecting a large crowd, and don't forget the nibbles.  ;)

Tony G

PS............Fay sit with me, I know all the answers now!

MarkS

It confused me as well.
The OAS calendar does (incorrectly) say 22nd.

Fay

I am a bit upset, i am always on the forum & did not see any mention of a date change. I had it on the OAS calender & on my main one. How did everyone know about it?

Rocket Pooch

Well all got together and changed the date to ensure we did not tell the people we did not want there.

But, is was announced at the last meeting.

Fay

what a bummer, never mind

Carole

Did you miss the last meeting Fay?
It was also printed in the last Toast.

Carole

Fay

well i suppose as it was on the calendar & on my own, i would not have been expecting a date change, so may not have taken it in

...and does next year's calendar have the correct date for next year's Xmas meeting? (It should say 13th December, I think...)

Carole

Yes it says 13th for next year.
