UVNC network to Observatory problem hopefully solved

Been struggling with this for months, sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. 
Phil came over this afternoon and discovered I have a dodgy Ethernet port on my old XP laptop.

He's adjusted the contacts, so hopefully it might work more reliably now.  Just in time for winter.
