just to let you know, Dixons are selling Miranda 10x50 bins for £30 down from £80 at the moment. They appear to be adequate for astronomy, I could see M13 through mine last night, even despite the moon.
For £30 they can sit in the car, I wouldn't feel too bad if they got a bit beaten up.
