I'm just starting to get through the mass of DSLR images I took at Les Granges and came across this one ... don't think I need say anything else  :-?

Fortunately it was only on a single 5min sub  8)

MarkS

I do hope you have many 5 min subs of that.
If so, it will make a stunning Milky Way image.

Mark

Rocket Pooch

Ok was that me :-), not too much light pollution there eh.  Lovely image Rob.

Anyone fance going to a darker place in 2 years time?

Chris

RobertM

Mark, I have about 130 x 5 min subs of various parts of the Milky way to process so it'll take me a while.

Lovely image Robert, wish we were back there.

Darker place Chris? I'm intrigued, you buying somewhere?

Cool!  I'm really looking forward to the final result(s).

Rocket Pooch

I was thinking of Arizona 1st and then maybe Namibia...

RobertM

What, a two centre jaunt !  I guess it would be less tiring than going to the Atacama :)

Rocket Pooch

No I won't go there because it has stranded minors and Gary Glitter.....

Gary Glitter.....

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I don't think you're quite his type. You should be ok.

:cheesy:

Namibia's closer and at least if you realy wanted to you could drive there :cheesy:.
might take you a month or two though.

There must be places that are closer and just as dark?

Mac

Rocket Pooch

yes there are, but not with daytime safari's, and the food in usa is yummy

RobertM

QuoteOk was that me

Actually no, you weren't the culprit, it was Fay's 2,000,000 candle power 'red' head light.  It's the only red torch I know that can cast a shadow on a tree 50m away :o

Fay

Well in that confined imaging area, if you do 130x5mins there is 100% chance of getting a beam in a few frames. I would think my light is no brighter than anyone else's, it is a standard headlamp.

Robert,  you have a white light on all the time on your laptop lid....perhaps it was that

Great image, which I attempted, but by the time I sorted out any issues (Why do I always have issues?) the Milky Way was over the opposite mountain range?
One day I'll grab an image like that, without Fay strolling slowly across the long exposure, looking into the lens with the beacon light flashing away. :D
On inspecting the image, Fay that is definitely not a laptop floating whisperly past the camera at Les Grange. ;)

Whisperly.

That really ought to be a word - it's so evocative!

RobertM

Thing is there should be 100% chance of not getting a beam in a few frames, in any case it was only one frame that recorded you.

The stride pattern shows a bit of a limp so it might not have been you... possibly but I can't be 100% certain it wasn't ;)

Wisperly - definitely a word for poets.  Fay, maybe it would fit in some of your verse ?

Robert

Tony G

Mark,

It sounded appropriate. You can just imaging Fay just floating past (whisperly) in the gentle breeze............................ ;)

Robert,

I can make up some other words, but they might NOT be appropriate. :D

This maybe Fay, dragging her box up the hill. ;)

Tony, it's probably best you leave it at 'whisperly', especially if you know what's good for you !

Sounds good, ARIZONA........................aaaahhhhh!!!! and the bit about the food didn't sway me, it just meant less cooking. ;)

Tony G

PS.....................I can just imaging it now, around a camp fire........................more beans................ :)

There's already a prequel in anticipation of you going there Tony, now what was it called now Blazing summit or other... You went under the alias of Hoss as I remember.

Just wondering why we've never seen a horse at DSC only sheep, is it because they're all giving you a wide berth  :o

Tony G

Robert,

Some would say that if that was the case, why don't the sheep! :-?

Tony G

PS................................AAAAAAHHHHHHRIZONA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PPS..............................I think this thread has been well and truly hi-jacked.

Just to make sure this thread stays off track......................

First - I'm up for it  :)
Second - I assume we're talking about something like Sky Village and renting stuff - Be a bit tricky getting a newt in a suitcase  :-?

http://starizona.com/acb/ is not too far away so an empty suitcase would be useful  ;)

Not for long ... I'll post a calibrated version of the image tonight

If it was someone limping it was me!

He should go down a deep hole in Chile then.

Tony G

Arizona?

What would you do about all the equipment i.e. scopes, mounts, anything heavy (tins of beans) etc.

Just wondered?????????????????????
