A couple of minor changes

As you can see, we have a new forum. Technical discussions live in the new forum, hopefully this'll become a useful archive in the future for troubleshooting.

The other minor change is the removal of alerts from the announcements forum.

This is a great idea, but I somehow feel I'll be putting several postings up there.

P.S. Why does the message board not like the characters in my messages?????

I've shifted a few threads into the new topic to give some idea of the sorts of things it might cover.

If I have an idle hour or two (Real Soon Now (TM)) I might have a more thorough go at re-classifying existing threads....

Chris: I think the forum (or the web browser - sometimes it's difficult to tell) hiccups on Micro$oft "special" characters like "smart-quotes", and also on one or two other symbols like the one for "pounds stirling"....
