Inspired by Nik Szymanek last month I have had another go at my M42 data. I obviously need to work on my colour balance, the blue is a bit (? very ?) lurid. I think I have managed to reduce the blown out centre slightly. I will continue to practice.

Lum: 800 * 7 seconds, R, G and B: 120 * 20 seconds.

I created new darks which were an improvement on the first set. Since February when I took the images I have a better (not perfectly) collimated scope.

This is the original which, I feel, has some very strange colours:

Regards,

John

PS: Carole - I had a look at Imgur and some of my images seem to have had the file type stripped out, this is probably why they will not load. I will see if I can sort it out. JH
Sir Isaac Newton should have said, "If I have seen further than others it is by inventing my own telescope".

Thanks John,

The processing of this is much better than the first time around.
