Quick question.

I've got a heated ultrasonic cleaner which is fantastic,
Ive used it for cleaning rust and verdegree off of valves and  and all sorts of junk

Has anyone used one to clean their optics, i.e. eyepieces?

Mine is big enough to get my Williams optic optics in but im not sure
if any of the coatings will be affected, I just need to remove all of the fungal growth on them.

I've got a rubber mat that will fit in the bottom to protect the lenses from scratching on the bottom.

Cheers

Mac.

The Thing

Don't know about optics, I have been looking at projects to make an ultrasonic LP cleaner. The key thing is to have very pure H2O it seems. I'm sure it would be ok for dismounted optics but there is no way I'd put a whole eyepiece or something in one, too many contaminants which make a film on the water surface which is transferred to the object when you take it out. There are plans on the web to have a pumped water filter arrangement to counter that for LPS.
