The Thing

I've always dreamed of being able to produce an astro photo as colourful as this.

As with the M31 image, this wasn't an ideal night and when these subs were taken the streetlamps were still on. I didn't use a light pollution filter.

Telescope aperture and focal ratio:   Teleskop Service TS1506UNC 6" f4, TS KomakorrF4
Camera and filters used:   Canon1100D defiltered, Astronomik UV/IR Cut Clip Filter
Processing applied:   Pixinsight BatchPreprocessing, PhotometricColorCalibration, Arcsinh Stretch, MSLinTrans, Gimp Levels, colour, noise and unsharp mask

I like that - it certainly is colourful.

Maybe the background is a bit too black.

The Thing

Thanks Fay. It was only supposed to be a quick grab shot to test out collimation, a new coma corrector and UV/IR filter. Turned out OK as a pretty picture though, even if technically it's had a very rough load of post-processing :)
