Got around to making a video of various wildlife videos I have taken in recent years, prompted by having a Sparrowhawk devour a pigeon (we think) on our lawn a couples of days ago.

All hand held, I must take a tripod with me when I can, but often these things are seen through a window as it would frighten the wildlife away - also normally no time to get a tripod out.  So I apologise that zooming in makes some of the footage a bit wobbly.

1.  Parakeets on the feeder in our garden, taken through the kitchen window, you can hear Adrian clattering with the washing up in the background.

2. Sparrowhawk 2 days ago - had to keep the dog shut in while this was going on otherwise there could have been an unpleasant encounter.  The Sparrowhawk (a female) was there for quite a long time having it's meal.  This time videoed through the bathroom window (standing in the empty bath (lol), you can hear our phone ringing in the distance.

3. Last year when we went to Lido di Jesolo to visit Venice, we went for a walk and in the inland waterways we were lucky to see some terrapins and then saw something move on the far bank.  Could not see with our own eyes, but on zoom (sorry handheld so wobbly), it turned out to be an Otter devouring it's dinner.  Always wanted to see an Otter in the wild.

4. We went to the Hither Green Crematorium where Green parakeets have made a roost for some years now.  As you can hear from the racket there were thousands of them.  Also a very brief glimpse of Scarlet Ibis flying in to roost (the mangroves are full of them it looks like a poppy field) when we were in Trinidad a few years ago. Then a few years ago I was walking in the Ladywell Park next to Lewisham Hospital during my lunch hour and saw a head popping out of a tree and realised it was a Woodpeckers nest, so the following day I went back again with my camcorder.  My colleague kept asking me questions as I was filming but didn't want to answer and ruin the film, but she was convinced it was an adult, but I was sure it was a baby, and sure enough by waiting long enough (sorry about the long wait), the adult turned up and fed the youngster.   You can hear the ambulances in the background.
A Robin in the garden.
Finally a couple of short shots of Puffins on the Treshnish islands off Mull.

5. Finally more Parakeets on our Orange Blossom Trees in the garden.

Hope you enjoy.

Just a few more taken in Australia some years ago.

Cassowaries, we went in search for them but they are very dangerous as they can chase you and claw you and have kill you by ripping open your stomach.  We found some and hitched a lift in a car to get past them, so viewing through the window.  It is unusual to see a male and female together as they only come together for mating, then the larger more dominant female lays the eggs and then clears off leaving the male to bring up the chicks.

A duck billed Platypus, very rare but we were staying with friends who knew where to find them.
