DSLR single exposure from Orpington of the Sun between clouds on a very windy day today showing AR2305 as it disappears off the right edge of the Sun. Minor adjustment to curve and cropped in Photoshop CS2. Canon 450D, Sigma DC 18-200mm lens. 1/500th second at 200mm, f/10, ISO-100.



Just goes to show what you can do with a DSLR and Baader AstroSolar safety film. I must confess, it was more interesting looking when the Moon was passing in front of it.

Nice Sun Kenny, the Moon looks a little out of focus.

Perhaps a tad. Looks fine on my monitor. You can tell it's only 200mm zoom and cropped though. The granularity gets worse if you zoom in any further.

Another single DSLR exposure of the Sun through my homemade Baader AstroSolar filter showing Sun spot group / Active Region AR2320. Caught between breaks in the clouds. With a bit of weather dancing I might be able to monitor this across a few days. Canon 450D at 200mm, 1/500th sec, f/10, ISO-100.
