I spent the afternoon and evening having a play with the Canon 450D I bought (from Amazon-refunded Samsung table proceeds) as there was a convenient conjunction between the Moon and Mars, plus two bright ISS passes, one of which (from Otford) would fly across the face of the Moon. Here are the results. Hosted (with camera details) in the Gallery. DSLR Day #1. :)

Crescent Moon at dusk (25/12/2014 16:11, Orpington. 200mm, f/7.1, 1/200 sec, ISO-1600)

Crescent Moon (25/12/2014 17:17, Orpington. 200mm, f/6.3, 1/500 sec, ISO-1600)

Crescent Moon with Earthshine (25/12/2014 17:16, Orpington. 200mm, f/6.3, 1/4 sec, ISO-1600)

Crescent Moon above the rooftop (25/12/2014 16:25, Orpington. 18mm, f/22, 2 sec, ISO-1600)

Crescent Moon with ISS transit nearby (25/12/2014 16:29, Orpington. 18mm, f/22, 2 sec, ISO-100)

Crescent Moon (with Earthshine) and Mars conjunction (25/12/2014 17:14. 40mm, f/5, 1/4 sec, ISO-1600)

ISS Transit incoming (25/12/2014 18:12, Otford. 88mm, f/10, 20 sec, ISO-1600)

ISS Transit across the face of the Moon (25/12/2014 18:14, Otford. 88mm, f/10, 20 sec, ISO-1600)

ISS Transit outgoing (25/12/2014 16:15, Otford. 88mm, f/5.6, 20 sec, ISO-1600)

Nice glad you got one of ISS across moon. Was looking at that on Heavens Above and was wondering if any one would get it. Nice and we'll done... John.

It is healthier to be mutton dressed as lamb, than mutton dressed as mutton!
