Canon battery mod

Anyone modded a Canon battery to hook up to 12V ?

Astronomizer do an adapter for £25 but as I've got a spare battery etc...........................

Any ideas ?

Yup I know some-one who actually sent me his thread on how he did it.  He used to work in electronics and is planning to do his own MOD.

£25 sounds reasonable.

I bought something like this from Maplin which now costs £19.99:

But the version I bought also had a 7.5v output which I then connected to the innards of a Canon battery (having removed the original cells).  And I'm sure it didn't cost as much as £19.99 either!

Oh, and I glued the voltage selector into the right position to prevent a foreseeable accident taking place.

Cheers Mark, I can't find anything that puts out 7v or 7.5v at Maplin, but I did pick up a mains version a while ago -

It comes with a battery shaped adapter.

If I can't come up with a car adapter the right voltage I'll get the £25 one.

Apologies now I've re-looked at it, the battery Mod is for mains rather than 12v, so not sure if this is any use or might need a bit of modification.

The important thing is the third contact which has a thermistor connected to it to detect overheating batteries or so I've read.
I bought the astronmiser version and haven't regretted it.

I use a DC-DC converter to power my Olympus which need 7v. Works great. I bought an empty battery case and wired it in.
