BAA Workshop 28th Feb Milton Keynes

The February meeting of the Association is to be the 4th Workshop and will be much more "hands on" that those to date.
It will be held at the Berrill Theatre, the Open University, Walton Hall, Milton Keynes on Saturday 28th February 2004.

The programme is rather ambitious, and details may change, but at present the order of events is as follows:-

11:00 Ordinary meeting
11:10 Introduction to the day
11:15 "Astrometry - an introduction" by Nick James
11:45 "Photometry of Variable stars using AIP software" by Roger Pickard
12:15 "Controlling your telescope with your computer" by Tom Boles
12:45 "Photometry of asteroids" by Richard Miles
13:15 Lunch (there will be a canteen open for purchase of lunch) 14:30 Demonstrations of the subjects of the pre-lunch talks with then commence in small groups. These will run for the remainder of the afternoon, and those attending will rotate around demonstrations. In addition to the speakers above, David Boyd and Karen Holand will facilitate the photometry groups.
You are welcome to bring images (ideally in FITS format) on which to learn the techniques.

For those not so interested  in computers and the CCD world, there will be two talks running concurrently with the  practical demonstrations.

17:45 Close meeting

There will be refreshments at  the venue, and maps to local hostelries.

There is no charge, but an idea of numbers would help organisation.
