I am contacting you about a forthcoming conference at the National Maritime Museum that may be of interest to members of the Orpington Astronomical Society.

In celebration of the International Year of Astronomy and of the 400th anniversary of the telescope and its use in astronomy, the conference will take a broad look at the whole history of the telescope. As you will see from the programme, we have an interesting range of speakers from different backgrounds and are aiming it anyone with an interest in astronomy and its history.
