well yes. I do think about getting a ZWO colour camera, but will my keenness wain? £2,000 is a lot to pay. On the other hand, I cant progress without a colour camera, as dont have an observatory, so take the setup down every time,  and  its too much of a palavar to use colour filters. I bought the modified Canon for skyscapes. in the past I got some reasonable ones with my Canon 350D modified, but things have become very sophisticated now, and much better results are expected.

Nice image. Nice resolving power with the ED80. If you ever decide to go down the cooled camera route have a look at the ZWO533MC (Colour). Sub 1000GBP and excellent. The mono version is coming out soon from the reports.

Hi Fay, Colour is much quicker to get data and less phaff.
I've just got a QHY294PROC for Euro 1000 from Pierro Astro in Italy. It's turning out to be a very nice camera. A bit more than your Canon 600d but much more sensitive and the chip is not from pre 2011... I could never be bothered with all that narrowband filter lark, I use an Optolong lEnhance dual band (Ha/OIII) with it on Moony nights or if there is a bit of light pollution to contend with, works very well.  Maybe a modern colour CMOS is just what the astro doctor would prescribe to get your enthusiasm back.
