TASKBAR windows xp

I used to have Safe to Remove Hardware in the taskbar. It is not there now. In customise, it is in the bit which says, past tasks, but I cannot to get it to appear now. Please any clues.

I pulled a camera out & laptop did not like it at all!!!!

Paul,

I did what you suggested, found my way around it all, don't know how, bit nerve wracking!!!!  Thought it had not worked as no remove hardware icon was in the taskbar menu. It appeared when I plugged a memory stick in.
