The OAS is affiliated to the BAA, and OAS members may attend BAA meetings, so here's a reminder (from the BAA) about the next one:

There is a meeting of the British Astronomical Association on Wednesday 26th January 2005 as well as the Back to Basics Workshop in Chichester on Saturday 29th.
It is at the Geological Society.
Doors open at 17:30 (note  the slightly later start) and tea and biscuits are available as normal.
The meeting will start at 18:00 and  will finish by 20:00.

Programme

Dr. David Boyd - "Clocking a spinning white dwarf".
Martin Taylor and Peter Wise - "New Developments in Imaging Technology"
Nick James - "Wide field Astrophotography with Digital Cameras"
Nick Lomb - "Sydney Observatory"

The meeting is free and open to all.

Nick Hewitt
Meetings Secretary

Dear Colleague
As a special service to RAS and BAA members, and as an experiment to test its possible take-up, the RAS has kindly agreed to keep its library at Burlington House, open on January 26 until 6pm. This is to coincide with the BAA ordinary meeting due to commence at around 5.30pm. If you think that you are likely to make use of this service on 26th January, please could you send an email to Peter Hingley, the RAS librarian (pd@ras.org.uk) with "Library Extended Opening" in the subject line? The RAS library will have extended and additional opening dates and times during 2005, including four Saturdays. The number of members making use of this facility will help decide if the service will continue. In addition to the above, provisional dates for opening in 2005 are: 30th March; 23 April; 25th May; 4th June; 26th October and 17th November. You will be sent reminders before each extended or additional opening.

The email address should be "pdh@..." rather than "ph@..."
