Title: 450d mod - any hints and tips would be welcome
Post by: Whitters on Aug 13, 2011, 00:59:49
Feeling brave. Gonna have a go at a 450d mod. Just waiting for my pd000 driver to arrive.
Found this site that looked good http://ghonis2.ho8.com/rebelmod450d1.html (http://ghonis2.ho8.com/rebelmod450d1.html)
I don't plan to replace the filter as I'm expecting to use manual focus, and Astro targets only.
If anyone has any hints or tips of their own I would be most grateful.

When I stripped down my 350D (before I broke it) I used a parts box like this

At each stage/photo put the screws in a different compartment

Good luck

When I stripped down my 350d I used sausages of bluetack stuck to a piece of card, one sausage per stage, and stuck the screws/washers/thingies on the blue tack in the order they came out. Re-assembly was then very easy.

Q. If you don't have any sort of window/filter on the CCD is there still a smooth surface you can clean on top of the chip? If so I may take off the Edmunds optics glass I used as it has a large watermark under it.
