I actually got my telescope out last night. Having proceeded to relearn everything that I'd learnt about imaging (memory is a fickle thing) I had a crack at the Crab and the Whirlpool.
Crab was 15x20 seconds 70% gain dark frame subtracted, with an SC3 at prime focus on the 8" F6 newt. The camera has also been treated with the RAW mod, which gives a more accurate rendition of the image at the sensor.
Whirlpool was 10x38 seconds, also at 70% gain. All other details as per M1.
The dark splotches are reminders to clean the CCD, and the overall experience indicates that the time is right to look seriously at LPR filters. The sky was NOT dark last night :mad:

Nice pikkie, I remember how bad the weather was on Saturday so all things considering I think that very nice.
Nice ones, you could try a streach or logarithmic streach I'm sure you will pick up even more detail.
Hope you don't mind I have streached the histogram, there is loads of detail here. I would suggest you take dark frames and flats, they would get rid of the amplifier glow and counter the dust spots.

Usual trick for including images here is to put the images into some webspace you do have access to, and then use a BBCode img tag to show it in a posting. There's a link to the BBCode stuff in the posting page.
