Title: Jupiter and the Milky Way
Post by: A.S.I.G.N_Baz on Jun 06, 2008, 16:58:12
I took a pic of good old Jupiter strolling across the milky way backdrop. Here is a shot up close and a widefield. The wide was taken by the camera on its own, piggybacking on top of the scope using it's standard lens.

Baz, they are lovely images. Lovely clear Jupiter & such an interesting view of the Milky Way from your observatory.

Us in the South East have not observed for about 2 months, the weather is rubbish, all the time.

THanks folks! Yes, this was a fun one to take. Its a little bit more interesting framed by the observatory slot, than the standard deep-space stuff I have been used to. Widefield and planetary are not without their challenges.

Nice one Baz.

For us in the UK this year, Jupiter is frustrating low in the sky - it only reaches 15 degrees above the horizon.
