Title: Fri 8th May - VE Day Bank Holiday
Post by: MarkS on May 01, 2020, 12:40:14
Bank Holiday is Fri 8th May this year and not Mon 4th May which is shown on the OAS Calendar.

It was moved to 8th May to facilitate VE Day Celebrations/Commemorations.

Oh yes, I have a recollection of that, many of the calendar makers had to re-make their calendars because of it.  I normally just look up the dates on the internet for the calendar, so the website I looked at had not been updated either.

Well with all the working from home and people being furloughed I doubt it will make much difference to anyone.

The OAS calendar's not exactly alone...

From https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/may-day-bank-holiday-date-change-2020-ve-day-second-world-war-75-a9491841.html

QuoteAs the date change for the 2020 early May bank holiday was announced in June, the alteration caused some mayhem with regards to incorrectly printed calendars.

In December, it was reported that the majority of the UK's 40 million diaries and calendars had already been printed by the time the announcement was made.

It was therefore estimated that approximately 30 million calendars were not produced accurately.

Seems like they could have decided to make the change a bit sooner...
