Title: Canon camera recommendations
Post by: RobertM on Apr 28, 2020, 20:22:23
Hi all,

Does anyone have any recommendation on a Canon camera to be used for Astro photography.  A friend has asked me to recommend one for his dad but I haven't used a Canon for ages.

His dad has an Esprit 150 on an EQ8 and will be using it in Bortle 6 class skies northwest of London.

Max £500ish

Thanks
Robert

i had a Canon 750d Modded from https://www.cheapastrophotography.com/Available-Cameras.html (https://www.cheapastrophotography.com/Available-Cameras.html) always had good results and never had a problem.

I'm afraid I am too out of date with DSLRs to be able to recommend anything.

The price point is entry level and at that level I don't think there is much difference between them.

It might be worth him looking on this website.  This guys modifies used (low count) Canon cameras and I know lots of people have used his cameras and say he provides a good service.

Thanks all.  I'm half thinking of an EOS M series because of all the mirror box shadow issues that plague DSLRs but I don't know if they all support tether mode.

Will keep looking for a bit before deciding.

Many thanks
Robert
