Title: M 16 in narrowband
Post by: Carole on Apr 21, 2018, 12:13:01
I did this following M81, when the guiding went to pot.

I am pleased that it is better than my effort in 2014

Ha 6 x 600secs
Oiii 3 x 300 secs binned x 2
Sii 3 x 300 secs binned x 2

SW 130PDS, Atik460EX and HEQ5

this is a bit of a crop to get the Nebula in closer.

Many thanks Mark.  I wasn't sure about the brown colour, but that's how it comes out with Hubble palette, either that or yellow or orange, neither of which appealed.

But overall pretty pleased with it, especially as it was a last minute decision to take it when M81 images started trailing.

Title: Re: M 16 in narrowband - colour adjusted

Wasn't keen on the brown and always seem to get my blues more Teal, I have done another colour rendition.

Which does every-one prefer?
I think it makes the dark nebulosity stand out more.

Very nice indeed Carole. Narrowband wins over RGB everytime in the suburbs

This was done at DSC Duncan.

There are some targets that I prefer in narrowband but I can't do from home, either because the LP is too bad even for some NB targets from London, or in this case, I cannot see it from home due to tree blockage, and also bad local LP in the low southern horizon even if I could see it.
