Title: Wolf Moon 1-Jan-2018
Post by: MarkS on Jan 03, 2018, 06:09:55
Here's the colour enhanced "Wolf" Moon on the night of New Year's Day.

Sony A7S on the Celestron C11 with Starizona large format corrector.

70 frames at 1/500sec stacked in AutoStakkert!3 using Bayer Drizzle then deconvolved with a Gaussian point spread function (stddev 1.6 pixels) in my own DCON software.

It's not as sharp and detailed as the one from a few days ago because the seeing was not as good.

I think it might be a bit too blue overall so I'll give the colour balance and saturation another go.

Having said that, the 2nd full moon this month will be a blue moon :)

As we all know the Moon is much better imaged when it's not a full Moon, but this is still a fine image.  That is such an amazing camera, such fine detail and the edge of the Moon showing detailed mountains and craters.

Got to say that the Moon is my favourite object and as much as I like your deep sky stuff, it is great to see some Moon shots in there as well ~ perhaps a couple for 'Picture of the Month'?

Best
