I was walking home last night at about 6.30 and saw the most incredible display from the geminids . Running approximately north to south a meteor burnt up with extraordinary violence, the event covered well over half the arc of the whole sky, lasted about 6 or 7 seconds and was at least five times as bright as the moon. The thing broke into dozens of parts with sparks emitting on the way down. I'm hoping someone captured it on video because it was so spectacular.
