A coronal hole that covers the left third of the sun has started to impact the earth. The field is unstable but with some neg. I have a weak arc 5dg high & 30dg wide here on the Moray coast and http://www.shetland.org/60n/webcams/cliff-cam-3 and 1 are showing to 10dg high (21.10UT 25th Sep)
There is a good chance this could be seen in Northern England or even further south as it builds, and it will probably last 3 to 4 days.

Aurora Alert
A coronal mass ejection struck earth a glancing blow just after 21:00UT 12th October 2016.
The field was positive at first but has changed to negative and that gives a very strong possibility of auroras tonight (13th October 2016).
It could be visible as far south as southern England
I have thick cloud cover so no conformation.

A coronal hole has started to impact earth from 09:30UT 25th October 2016.
The field is unstable both positive and negative however the wind speed has increased to over 750kps. That gives a very strong possibility of auroras tonight (25th October 2016) and for next 3 or 4 days.
It could be visible as far south as southern England
I have thick cloud cover so no conformation.

A coronal hole has started to impact earth from 04:30UT 24th November 2016.
The field is unstable both positive and negative however the wind speed has increased to over 530kps.
I have a green arc, 90dg wide & 10dg high from the Moray coast at 2130UT.
It will be visible in northern Scotland, but could go further south.

A coronal hole has started to impact earth from 06:00UT 21st March 2017.
The field is unstable both positive and negative however the wind speed has increased to over 690kps.
It may only affect Northern Scotland but it could go further if the field swings negative. I have cloud cover on the Moray coast but it has been seen in Dundee. It is showing on cliff cams 1 & 3 http://www.shetland.org/60n/webcams/cliff-cam-3

The field is unstable both positive and negative however the wind speed has increased to over 630kps and is classified as a G2 storm.
It may only affect Northern Scotland but it could go further if the field swings negative. Keep looking north as it gets dark and also keep a watch on http://www.shetland.org/60n/webcams/cliff-cam-3
