Title: 1st Light - New Toy....
Post by: JohnP on Dec 29, 2004, 03:16:00
Good to see Chris playing with his new toys - Ha & OIII - Very impressed with results looks very promising.

I got to play with my new toy (EOS 300D) on boxing day albeit very briefly - I snapped a quick image of Orion just rising above the garden fence - Image captured in Raw format (converted to Jpeg) - 30sec exposure at ISO800 - No processing at all (except converting to jpeg). Used Canon 105mm zoom lens (approx' 165mm F/L at 35mm). Lots to learn & looking forward to playing with the new camera...

Anybody else get any new toys....?

Cheers,  John

I had a little play with the original RAW file - I adjusted the levels in PS - Image shows a lot more stars & M42 shows some faint nebulosity - I'm really pleased with the result from a single 30-sec exposure. Can't wait to have another go using longer exposures, dark frames & stacking some images. Also, can't wait to give it a go a next DSC.

Cheers,  John.

PS - I replaced originally file with new file rather than posting both.
