Title: not a good night
Post by: Fay on Jul 23, 2014, 13:47:22
I set out to do some OIII for IC1318/Ngc6888.

got to focusing & remembered i had not changed my custom faceplate on the QSI to enable to get focus with OIII filter.

i had been lining up etc with the ha filter, so I could see something, then had to take camera off & replace the plate.

did 12x600, i thought focus looked good & did not realise how much OIII there was in this area.

well i had a lot of info because i forgot that when turning the QSI off , the filters revolve and so I had the HA filter in place for the evening, to make it worse i had focused for the OIII and so they were all out of focus, so deleted them all!!  DOH!!!

We must compare notes tomorrow Fay as before I got my Pacman image last night I had a number of problems which i did ultimately resolve but not least falling over the dog who was asleep on the floor in the kitchen because I decided not to turn the light on due to imaging towards the house.

Doh!

Fay,

Why do you need a custom face plate for OIII filters in a QSI?

Hi Chris, the 180 lens would not focus with the QSI/OIII filter, so i had a narrower mounting plate made, the bit that the lens screws into on the front. not the whole front of the QSI
