Title: Skywatcher 80ED DS Pro or Williams Optics ZS71
Post by: Kylee on Feb 01, 2014, 19:06:53
Been reading lots of reviews and just need a bit more help before I make the final choice.

Any opinions ????

Cheers  ;)

I've got both Kylee and they are both good scopes.

The ED80 is highly rated especially for those starting out with a Focal ratio 7.5.
the WO ZS71 has a bigger FOV but is faster @ F5.9

I love both of them, but realise I don't need both and am finding it hard to decide, but on balance I think I'll probably be keeping the WO ZS71 as I also have an ED120 if I want more magnification.

I think either would be a good choice for some-one starting DS imaging.

Only negative thing I feel with the WO scope is that it doesn't come with a finderscope - I have had one fitted whereas the ED80 come with not only a finderscope but a nice set of mounting rings on which you can mount a guidescope should you so wish.

I am using a finderguider for the WO scope.

Thanks Carole...been reading a lot tonight and am leaning more towards the skywatcher.
