From a BAA electronic circular:
BAA members will be interested in a 60-minute programme entitled, "Stardate: Close Encounters" that will be broadcast on BBC2 at 11.20 p.m. this Wednesday (September 29th). It is quite a mixture including discussions on meteorites at the Natural History Museum, London. Of particular interest will be a 4 or 5 minute section featuring Peter Birtwhistle, filmed at his observatory, which goes through the methods he uses to observe faint, fast-moving NEOs. There is also a 6-minute feature highlighting the story of AL00667, the object that was thought to be heading for Earth impact back in mid-January: The undersigned features in that story as do various key professional astronomers such as Alan Harris, Brian Marsden and Steve Ostro.
The program is hosted by Adam Hart-Davis and Dr Lucie Green and it is timed to coincide with the close encounter of the minor planet Toutatis.
