Neil Armstrong dies, first man on Moon

US astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the Moon, has died at the age of 82, US media report.

Earlier this month he had surgery to relieve blocked coronary arteries.

He walked on the Moon on 20 July 1969, famously describing the event as "one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind".

There are now a number of linked reports on that BBC page. I've seen others elsewhere, too. I've no idea where or when the photo in this tribute (http://journal.neilgaiman.com/2012/08/neil-armstrong.html) was taken, but it's different. :)

Tony Buick has asked me to post some photos that he took of the TV at the time of the moon landings. He used a 35mm Halena camera on Ektachrome slide film.
