Title: Leitz 50mm F2 Summicron first light test
Post by: Fay on Jul 01, 2012, 12:54:45
Bought a new purchase, see above. This was QSI/ 50m,m 1x1200, 7nm ha.

Wont be able to image at F2 as too much going on around the edges. I did a few flats & used old darks just to see the best of this 1 sub. this was at F4.

Hi Fay,

That looks really promising but the jpeg looks awful at it's posted size as the image looks far too undersampled.  Could you post a full size image ?

You will need an aspirin. Lots to sort out regarding dodgy stars

I'd rather see the warts, and yes I have had some aspirin already...

Nice capture for one sub, certainly looks a potentially good lens.

I presume you didn't seek approval of the weather gods before condemning us all to bad weather  :(

Oh sod it, I'm gonna buy something  :-?

There are edge issues with 50mm Mick. I seem to have it worse on the left, so could be adapter ? Gets better as the F goes up but don't want to go over F4

If the poop is worse on one side, sounds like it would be the adapter.

Mark has had grief trying to sort similar out - It's probably something the weather gods did  ;)

Great field of view - you've captured lots of interesting stuff in that image.
What F-ratio did you use?

The scale of the image is too small to see the aberrations you refer to but from your description it sounds like tilt somewherein the optical train.
