Finally got around to processing this image from France.

TEK 140 refractor on a Takahashi EM200
Guiding ZS66 Atik 16IC and PhD
Processed in Maxim

Thankyou all. Yes my first Horsey. I did get the colour channels as well but the green was all mucked up
In future when I'm asked what you need to do imaging I shall say a Tek, a Tak and a house in france!!

Very nice Jim, lots of detail starting to come out in the Horsehead and the flame.  Dark skies make quite a difference don't they 8)

That really is a great image.  Very smooth and lots of detail.

There are very odd diffraction spikes around Alnitak - a kind of parallel tramline effect.  I've seen nothing like it before.  I wonder what causes it.

BTW Olly has a double page M51 in the May issue of the French magazine "Astronomie".  Done with Yves van den Broek and the Dall Kirkham.  22 hours of exposure - it looks really good indeed.  Dark skies!  Sigh...
