I added another 45 subs to this last night.
So the image below is a combination of:
60 x 5 min ISO 800 with CLS and UV/IR filters
45 x 5 min ISO 800 with UV/IR filter
As usual, H-alpha modified Canon 350D on Tak Epsilon 180ED.

I not terribly happy with the result, partly because I need to do a full re-process from scratch. But also because I think it is suffering from the Canon's lack of sensitivity to H-alpha. I also think some proper luminance subs would help to pick out the dusty bits better. I'm beginning to seriously consider a dedicated astro-cam. There, I've said it :o

Ideal camera would be based on a APS sized Sony Exview HAD CCD II (or slightly larger then APS). Trouble is, Sony only make pretty small Exview HAD CCD II chips. So any dedicated camera is going be be a compromise :-(

I think if Sony ever made one of those chips APS size then they would fly off the shelves. As it is the smaller chips are very tempting.
I do agree with you about the image. Excellent though it is, it's missing a lot of Ha detail - maybe a reprocess would tease out some more.

Is it worth while getting the camera when the scope hads square stars? I must admit I'd probably change the scope 1st IMHO?
Or maybe both? Not sure you can get the resolution from the scope to get rid of the squareness of the stars.
