Who's going to the October DSC in a few weeks time?
I plan to be there.
Me too
I won't be able to make this one as I have a concert on 29th, and rehearsal the night before.
Carole
Is it at Rother Valley...? I might try & make this one myself at least for a few nights.....
Yes John providing it doesn't P down for a week before we go.
Be good to see you there.
Well I have got a funny feeling wifey is off to Paris that weekend with the two girls so it could be PARTY TIME !!!!!!! :-) :-)

I'll be there too...
John, It would be good to see you at DSC - maybe you could make sure by buying those eurostar tickets now :)
Robert
Well believe it or not Robert it was ALL booked for last Nov & if you remember we got tons of snow on the day they were meant to go so all was cancelled. Figured we'd book a month earlier & can't believe that they have been talking about snow in Oct..!!!!! Fingers crossed I'll be there just in time for STELLA O'clock (eh Mick.... :-) )

Snow, October - are you kidding ? Brrrrr, just as well I got a four seasons sleeping bag recently !
Sorry did I say Brave, I meant Daft !!!

Hope you all have a good DSC.
So far the weather is suggesting rain at the beginning of the week then clouds and wind :(
Meteoblue is currently predicting clear nights for Thurs and Fri at DSC. Too early for a Sat & Sun forecast.
Mark
Just to let you know I am away this week - Monday to Friday so will probably only make the DSC on Saturday.
Julian
Is the DSC moving to blacklands with the rain forecast?
Depending on who's forecast you read it will be sunny or raining equally at Blacklands or Rother, but as it hasn't been too bad so far - It will be at Rother :P
I've booked ;)
Roy and I have decided to come down. Hope to arrive on Friday afternoon in time to set up before dark :D
Just spotted on the KESR site that there will be Hallowe'en night fright trains running Friday and Saturday during the evening!
DSCs are not about having fun, they are about getting cold and miserable :-?
She'll never learn
I'm sure we can arrange a few frights for them!!
Weather is not looking good at the moment - cloud and/or rain most places to the south :(
Yep been looking at that... :-( Up to my eyeballs at the moment with work & house issues so think I'll have to 'take a rain check' (ha! ha!) this weekend. If people do venture down I may pop down on Saturday daytime for a few hours.

Might need extra beer and pastis then!
I'm planning to arrive early Friday afternoon.
I didn't book, so I'm hoping the camp site isn't full ...
Mark
Tough one for me, I'm not drinking and the weather is not good?
Chris, I'm sure I've mentioned this before but the weather improves proportionally with the volume of alcohol consumed
Anyway, who's going ?
So far we have me, Mark, Sue and Roy and Mike as a possible
Anyone else ? Duncan ? Robert ? Phil and Sue ? Alan ?
Well me and Mark are here.
Damp and overcast but ground is firm.
Not going to set up until later if the clouds clear.
Sorry, can't make it Mick, I'm sure you'll have a stella(r) time. Having been away for two weeks (working I might add) there is some catching up to do on the home front.
Don't know Mick, I'm a fair weather imager so I'll see what the weather's like in the afternoon. I'm also off the alcohol which is a bit of a bummer :(
Half a bottle of Pastis has gone. Mick and I blame Roy. Beautiful star filled sky just now - lasted nearly 5 whole minutes. Lovely fireworks display was enjoyed by all.
Any news of Fay???
QuoteAny news of Fay???
Who? :cheesy:
Maybe Anglia TV fame has gone to her head and she's disappeared with her A-list celebrity friends.
Anyone checked Border TV, maybe she has her own show
Won't be at dsc as the weather looks c**p. Going to work on motorising my observatory instead.

We're sitting in warm sunshine drinking beer. 8)
7Timer! (http://7timer.y234.cn/index.php?product=astro&lon=0.61199951171875&lat=51.00727412789287&lang=en&tzshift=0) shows good seeing and transparency and minimal cloud. Still can't come though :(.
I'm on my way!
p.s. Mick before you tell me to p*** off - I'm bringing more beer
Nige
Sat 24 shows a mass of cloud on the way, so it looks like beer :)
Had 40min clear and transparent sky. SQM-L reading of 20.75 which converts into NELM of mag 6. We did some visual binocular observing.
Well its been a good social weekend, shame about the astronomy.
Good thing is, its going to be easier to pack up.
Very enjoyable weekend: great company, lovely countryside, busy steam railway, firework displays and a fine view of the milkyway (if only for 40 minutes). Our first time at Rother Valley but would highly recommend it to other members who haven't ventured down there yet :D :D
Thanks Mick.
Sue and Roy.
Glad you enjoyed it (all I did was supply the clouds ;) )
What Sue neglected to say was the the "Monster Truckavan" appears to be permanently stuck - Colin can't drag it out
About 5 tons of van parked on grass for 4 months, obviously not a good idea

That's going to be a bit of a problem ...
