Meteoblue is currently predicting clear nights for Thurs and Fri at DSC.  Too early for a Sat & Sun forecast.

Is the DSC moving to blacklands with the rain forecast?
Title: Re: October DSC
Post by: mickw on Oct 25, 2011, 22:27:52
Depending on who's forecast you read it will be sunny or raining equally at Blacklands or Rother, but as it hasn't been too bad so far - It will be at Rother  :P

I've booked  ;)

Weather is not looking good at the moment - cloud and/or rain most places to the south  :(
Title: Re: October DSC
Post by: JohnP on Oct 27, 2011, 17:27:03
Yep been looking at that... :-( Up to my eyeballs at the moment with work & house issues so think I'll have to 'take a rain check' (ha! ha!) this weekend. If people do venture down I may pop down on Saturday daytime for a few hours.

Might need extra beer and pastis then!
I'm planning to arrive early Friday afternoon.

I didn't book, so I'm hoping the camp site isn't full ...

Chris, I'm sure I've mentioned this before but the weather improves proportionally with the volume of alcohol consumed

Damp and overcast but ground is firm.

Not going to set up until later if the clouds clear.

Sorry, can't make it Mick, I'm sure you'll have a stella(r) time. Having been away for two weeks (working I might add) there is some catching up to do on the home front.

Don't know Mick, I'm a fair weather imager so I'll see what the weather's like in the afternoon.  I'm also off the alcohol which is a bit of a bummer :(

Half a bottle of Pastis has gone.  Mick and I blame Roy.  Beautiful star filled sky just now - lasted nearly 5 whole minutes.  Lovely fireworks display was enjoyed by all.

Any news of Fay???

Had 40min clear and transparent sky.  SQM-L reading of 20.75 which converts into NELM of mag 6. We did some visual binocular observing.

Very enjoyable weekend: great company, lovely countryside, busy steam railway, firework displays and a fine view of the milkyway (if only for 40 minutes). Our first time at Rother Valley but would highly recommend it to other members who haven't ventured down there yet  :D  :D

Thanks Mick.

Sue and Roy.

Glad you enjoyed it (all I did was supply the clouds  ;) )

What Sue neglected to say was the the "Monster Truckavan" appears to be permanently stuck - Colin can't drag it out

About 5 tons of van parked on grass for 4 months, obviously not a good idea
