Title: A couple from last week
Post by: JohnP on Oct 07, 2011, 10:30:13
First images in 3 1/2 months.......

Took 2 hrs to set up & remember what went where.....! Anyway normal setup:

EQ6, ED80 + Atik 16ic, 7nm HA Baader, OAG (with my old webcam)

IC63 - 18x10mins (no calibration at all - just stacked & tweaked) - Half the subs for this were taken through smoke as stupid neighbour 3 houses down decided to light massive bonfire just as I started first sub... :-(

Tulip Neb - 7x10mins + 4x15mins (again no calibration just stacked & tweaked) - Took this too late in season as object is starting to set in West which for me means imaging through all the crap from Bromley :-( 2nd version less 'harshly' processed...!

Anyway was good to get out again & dust off the cobwebs (must get a larger format camera).. Both images still need more subs & colour of course.

Thks,  John.

Nice one John - it's good to see some images from you.

I particularly like your IC63 - it's a toughie but you've got lots of detail there.

I'm glad your OAG is working well!

Mark

Lovely images John and very well framed.  Both are difficult tagets in their own right but I think I like the Tulip the best.  It's very hard to get any detail but you've done a really good.

Thanks Mick, Mark & Robert for your comments. Of the two images it was actually IC63 that was the easier to process (which kinda suprised me cause I thought Tulip would have been easier) - I took the images on consecutive nights (28th, 29th Sept) & think that the seeing on the first night 28th when I took IC63 was a lot better. IC63 was just about at Zenith whereas Tulip was low down. I have never done Tulip before so happy to get it - As a rule I don't normally bothering imaging anything from my garden once it has passed South. I suppose I should be happy to get either of these from central Bromley.

Thks again,  John

Thks Fay - Nope not seen Olly's 17hrs & dont forget the mag 6.5 skies as well.....

Update... Fay - just checked out Olly's image & it is of a different part of the sky - it's not IC63 - it's the ghost Neb - A fantastic image as usual though.

For some reason the server I use for my webpage appears to be down as none of my images are displayed... :-( Not good service in this day & age - I will have to look to swapping to a different provider...

The mono images seem to have a lot more detail than their colour counterparts.
I think once I'm settled, the mono camera is going to be my choice of weapon.
Great images John, and hopefully we'll see a few more, soon!

Well that's exactly how I feel about my 16ic but I'm thinking it's time for an upgrade...

Nice pics John. Are you a bus driver by any chance - nothing for a while then several arrive at once!
