Title: Jupiter 29 Sept 2011 0:49am
Post by: The Thing on Sep 30, 2011, 10:51:39
LX90 8" UHTC with Moonfish 2x ED 2" barlow, 2" Baader Neodymium filter and SPC880/900 unmodded webcam. The filter makes a real difference to the contrast between the light and dark features.
Guided by QHY5 on Finderscope with PHD.
Captured with SharpCap.

This is the full size image 500/1000 frames, no processing except AviStack's automatic stuff and bit of tweaking the wavelets in AviStack.

That's a very nice result Duncan - especially since the conditions were not that brilliant.

Try AivStack on your captures, I'm sure it will do a better job. Just use the defaults. It takes a while to process as it's very thorough. The wavelets seem to work better as well.

That's a great result, even more so considering your location.  the Baader ND is supposed to be a great help on planets.  I'll wait till Jupiter's a bit higher before having a go with mine.
