Post by: Mac on Sep 02, 2011, 11:53:54

20 Ha stacked in registax,
For some reason regisax kept misaligning the images.

Processed in Photoshop.

On another note,
Dont forget to remove your finderscope,
I finally managed to locate the smell of melting plastic  :!
The inside of the finderscope has melted.

At least it wasn't the inside of your head  8)

I believe Carole and Phil found that fewer alignment points works best on the sun for some reason.

And it's a very spotty sun, nice one  :)

Yup, a large number of alignment points tessellated the image. Don't know why.

The 'scope I use has an upmarket red spot finder which contains nothing that can concentrate the suns rays, I leave the cover on anyway. Hope the finder's not too badly damaged.

Err beyond repair sort of,
the rear optic is foggy and not very usable,
but i've removed it and im trying to Heath Robinson an adapter for the loadstar.

So your reusing the finder objective as a guidescope. Sounds like a plan.

Sorry to hear that Mac.  I would also caution against eyepiece projection for the same reason - cheap eyepieces have a lot of plastic inside !
