Well I set up between the clouds & wind last night to try a quick test on a new guide setup I am experimenting with. I pointed at a random area of sky & just started guiding/ imaging whilst messing with focus & guide settings. The first sub I downloaded has what looks like a strange new shaped nebula in formation - also looks like I was lucky enough (just call me Mark) to get a supernova & a meteor all in one shot. I have informed the relevant section of BAA so hopefully now all global telescopes are aimed at this area of the sky. Unbelievably the new neb looks uncannily like a jet engine & so I suspect once confirmed it'll be forever known as the The Jet Engine Nebula....

Brilliant :-)
:cheesy:
   Glad it wasn't me advising BAA!!!!
I've had so many flying overhead but never anything remotely like that. I reckon you should try for an APOD with that !
Shall we call you Mark 2 from now on
Top man
I'd send it to all the mags, including the astronomy ones.
John,
It needs some colour. Have you tried RGB. :)

Coincidentally I caught one in Riberac on Wednesday night, in colour:

The "star" on the blue line is a navigation light. The very red "star" and red blob between the blue and red lines is also plane related.
I got a total of 3 hours imaging over the week. The weather was very warm during the day but too much cloud at night.

OK you got RGB but no jet engine... Ha!!!!!
