Title: Crayford Focuser in News Shopper
Post by: MarkS on Oct 14, 2010, 20:28:41

The Crayford Focuser gets a mention in this week's News Shopper - page2 in the Bexley edition (Wed 13 Oct).

It gets a mention as an aside because the nearby football ground is about to install 30,000 watts of lighting close to the Crayford Manor House observatory.  The astronomers have lodged an objection.

I suspect that the astronomers will be dismissed as a bunch of kill joy cranks as usual - ME bitter? Mumble mumble...............

The last time I talked to John about his focuser, HE was bitter about what JMI had done to his baby!

I was there when John showed the focusser JMI sent him when they first started to manufacturer the Crayford. The only man I know who could have made a lot of money from astronomy, but decided to give the design to the community, he didn't even put his name to it. He should have got more recognition, and certainly more than a single focusser from JMI.
