Title: Cheshire v's Laser
Post by: Rocket Pooch on May 24, 2010, 09:15:10
Hi,

Update on the 8" Newt, I borrowed Mick's Cheshire and checked the mirrors on the scope an they are miles off as expected, the laser is centred perfectly, so I think its worth bearing in mind (as expected) the laser is only useful for checking the centre of the mirrors are in alignment and the mirror alignment should be checked from time to time.

Yep, found that too.  The laser can give good results 'if' exactly centered but that's the crux of the problem so I've found the cheshire more reliable.
