Title: DMK not recognised
Post by: Fay on May 11, 2010, 10:49:00
In the first place, I had a new hard drive installed because DMK camera was suddenly not showing up. Now it has happened again. I have not been doing anything to do with multi hubs, just plugged it in & then tried different cables of the same type, when it was not working.
IC Capture is the program it works with but sating no device found.

I remember Ian saying before that windows is trying to use its own drivers. I cannot reinstall DMK drivers as it is saying that there is no device plugged in.

Has anyone any ideas as to what i can do.  Thanks

I have plugged it into different ports, to no avail.

Leave it plugged into a port, preferably the one you used to use.

Go to Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager - Ports (COM,LTP)

Hopefully you'll see the DMK there with a COM port number by the side of it.  Make a note of this.

Open IC Capture and have a look at the settings - Make the COM port the same as the one you just made a note of.

If it all works, remember this procedure because sooner or later another device will "disappear" - Don't ask how I know

The device manager is not refreshing when I plug it in any where.

When I plug web cam in, device manager refreshes, Imaging Devices box comes up.

When I plug Atik in, the device manager refreshes but no Imaging Devices box comes up. So this box does not come up with every camera, but I think it should with DMK

Try restarting the PC with the DMK plugged in

Clutching at straws now  :-?

I will do that Mick. I have put the problem on Imaging Source forum, but they did not know the answer before.

Don't like the quote" clutching at straws" :(

fay didn't we do a backup using hyperos of your system?

If so you can restore your system to a working state in mins.

Do you want me to pop round and take a look at some point,
i need a break from bloody boxes.

Mac.

Mac, do you remember I could not get on with the partitions & so put another hard drive in, I still have the other one with hyperos on.

have you wiggled the lead?
might be a dry joint or broken cable.

Especially as its happening on both computers.

Cant make it today, waiting for the carpet fitter.
Probably be some time next week.

Although i'm trying to free up some time for friday and i might be able to pop down to DSC.

Mac.
