Title: Sun with Coronado
Post by: Fay on Apr 08, 2010, 22:46:40

This is about 1000 frames with DMK & Coronado. Stacked in Virtual Dub & transferred to Registax. Will have to give it a bit of colour.
I have never done sun before , so a novice, I need to watch someone who is more practiced. I think to get prominances in the same image, it has to be taken separely & combined etc

Not too shabby for a novice ;)

I'm looking at it wondering why the disk isn't evenly illuminated?

Robert

PS. you will need to tune the passband to get the best out of the prominences (the brass thumbscrew at the objective end); if it's tunable that is.

I think that's the best anyone has managed with the society coronado so far.

I guess it may be down to the severe angle-sensitivity of the H-alpha filter. I've noticed with my small solarscope that you see different wavelengths in different parts of the field of view.

Good to see the Coronado being used for imaging. ;)

Yes, I wondered why it was uneven.

I altered the little brass wheel to get these, but quite bright

Well done Fay, some nice prominences and features.

Just taken the liberty of tweaking your image in photoshop, various colour controls, or is this cheating?
will remove when you've done your own.

Image now removed.

Well, it is a very narrow-band H-alpha filter, so I guess you could just use whatever colour is the nearest approximation to H-alpha in place of white...

Oh that looks better Carole, what colour controls was it? I seem to have gone brain dead!

New box for keeping laptop in. Still had to have coat over my head during the day. Only difficulty at night, was focusing & working laptop at same time, as I had to tilt the box up to see the screen.

Fay, I'll remove my image in post 8, now you've done yours in colour as I also want to remove it anyway from my temporary webspace.
