Title: Additional Cave Data...
Post by: JohnP on Sep 14, 2009, 22:25:19
Managed to add a couple more hours of Ha to my Cave neb image from last DSC. It's helped smooth image but not really added anything to the detail. I'll try for some RGB next time out.

Cheers,  John

Nice John, much less noise, looking forward to seeing the colour version.

It's interesting to see just how much of a difference a lot more exposures make

Well I am not sure how scientific my processing is so I can't guarantee that the smoothness is all down to the additional subs.. i.e. I probably didn't do exactly the same stretches etc. to both sets of data.  However, additional data definitely improves SNR which means less aggressive stretching & consequently a smoother final image..

Thks for all the comments,  John

I do notice how different an image can come out depending on what programme has been used to stack it

I had a go at this one last week, makes me want to try again, though im thinking a longer focal length might be in order for this one!
