Title: Help with aligning for a mosaic
Post by: Whitters on Sep 13, 2009, 15:45:30
Folks, any suggestions for software or techniques for aligning images in a mosaic. I also need to deal with field rotation. Any suggestions? Thanks

I use Photoshop - create a big canvas - add images one by one in layers - slide, rotate and scale each piece until best match obtained.  If you add a layer mask to each, you can then control which area of each tile is visible in the final image.

Photoshop also has a photomerge command (which I only found out about the other day) - File/Automate/Photomerge - it may work for astro images - give it a try...
