Title: Leo Triplet M65/M66 and NGC3628
Post by: RobertM on Apr 01, 2009, 14:09:15
I wasn't going to post these because the lower right is out of focus but the fact that I'd done it in LRGB encouraged me to have a go so here it is.

Taken at the unofficial DSC at Lydd kent.

Details:
Scope: Sky90@f/4.5
Camera: SXV-H9
Filters: Astronomik LRGB
Exposure: L 1x1 (15 x 300s), R 1x1 (6 x 300s), G 2x2 ( 8 x 120s), B 2x2 (8 x 120s)

I know it's far from perfect but I thought I'd share it anyway.

Hi Robert,

Detail in the galaxies is very good - the colours don't quite look right though but not quite sure why - I'll need to compare with other images on the web. what are the dodgy dark halo's around all the stars? Did you blur the colour layer before layering on the L layer? An excellent start though & I love the FOV.

I took an axe to it in order to try and fix the out of focus stars - it was nearly a bin job before that !  Might have another go at the colours (done in Maxim) with PS and see what comes out...

I see....

This is a pretty nice one - I reckon with your equipment you could get something similar....

Definitely, I don't think the conditions were quite that good at Lydd but if I can make sure the camera is in square next time ...
